Ski weekend :)

I had a great time last weekend with Heather, Mike, Em, and Ian at the cottage (even though we didn't have heat for most of it and it was *cold*)

Pictures will come when I find my camera under the piles and piles of piles I have all over my apartment.

In knitting news, I only have to do thumbs for my gauntlets, and I started knitting my so-called scarf in wonderful yarn that reminds me of veggies for some reason. Again, I'll post pictures when my camera resurfaces.

Thanks for a great weekend, guys!

RIP: Heath Ledger

I heard on the radio this morning that Heath Ledger was found dead last night.

I'm not the hugest fan of his, but I did like watching his movies ever since I first saw him in the short lived TV show "Roar" back in high school.

And who can forget him singing in "10 Things I Hate About You"?

So, I'm sad that he's gone. His last movie, I suppose, will be the new Batman movie, where he played The Joker.

Sometimes complaining pays off!

Whining about my paltry yarn stash paid off!

Thanks to Ru and Mel who graciously donated some yarn to me (and my knitting group at work). I hadn't had the chance to blog about it until now (I wanted to wait to get pictures on Ravlery first)

So, thanks! And there are pictures on Ravelry!

Pass the pies...

I just came back from seeing "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" (I keep wanting to say the demon barber of Seville, but I think that's an opera not a movie/musical) ;)

While the movie was very good, I don't think I'll be eating any meat pies for a while.

Tim Burton is seriously disturbed.

*squee!*

The DVDs I ordered on Boxing Day have finally shipped!

Soon, I'll have season one and season two of Doctor Who for my very own! Which mean I can start saving up for season three (seriously, why are these DVDs so damned expensive?)

Hooray!!

Peace and Hats

I had 40 minutes of serenity this morning while I was doing laundry. I bought Tetris for my iPod Nano (best $5 I ever spent!) so while my washing was going, I sat in the quiet laundry room (there are comfy couches down there) and played Tetris while listening to music. I didn't think about all the errands I have to do today, I didn't think about work, I didn't think about anything. Just Tetris and music. It was bliss.

And, since I've been getting requests, here are pictures of my Fatty Hatty!

trying to photograph myself...

I have lots of yarn left over, so if anyone has suggestions on what to do with it, let me know :)

Twisty fun!

I'm only 4 rows away from finishing my first cabling (cableing?) project. It's so much fun!! I love the twistiness of it all.

But one thing I've learned is that I still don't like working with DPNs. I thought (since I was overly eager to begin this project and I had left my needles at home and Heather only had DPNs) that I would give them a shot. The yarn is sticky enough that the stitches don't fall off, but having 4 DPNs plus the one you knit from(with?) plus the little cable needles is far too many needles for me.
Pictures of the completed cabled hat will follow!
