Vacation!!

Today is day one of my mini-vacation. As soon as I get Hamlet back from the vet (yes, he's still there), I'll load up the cats into the car and head to the cottage for 4 days of relaxation :D

Since I dropped Hamlet off at the vet on Monday (he had a reaction to the pain medication that made his face swell, so the vet opted to do his surgery on Wednesday, meaning I can pick him up today), I think Hermes was a little worried that he would be the next to go ... or he thinks I finally regained my sanity and got rid of the little devil.

Anyway, Hermes has been super cuddly and friendly, rarely more than a foot away from me at any given time (which means I keep tripping over him). It's just like old times. I hope he doesn't take it too hard when the kitten comes back!

Since I'll be without internet until Monday, I'll have to neglect my daily blog posts. I figure the NaBloPoMo gods will understand if I'm unable to post due to lack of internet (yes, there are still some places without the internet in this world)

So, I'll be back Monday or Tuesday! Enjoy your weekends everyone, and I'll tell you about my adventures at the cottage (if there are any)

Rest of the Long Weekend Pictures

Okay, here are the rest of the pictures

Pete, trying out the kayak:

Dee, Pete, and little Hamlet:

Hamlet has this funny habit of burrowing through my hair. Dee took pictures of it, so I could see what's going on (why do I always pick the weird cats?)

Look! Hermes and Hamlet are playing! (I don't think Hermes realized Hamlet was there until Hamlet fell off the chair and landed on his head. That was pretty funny!)

Okay, one more post of non-long weekend pictures and I'm done. Promise.

EDIT: The pictures are working now. Enjoy!

Very Photo Heavy Post!

I just downloaded all my pictures from my camera to my computer, so I thought I'd share. I'm also playing with Picassa, so if this post looks weird, that's why. Okay, onto the photos! I believe they're mostly of the long weekend at my parents' cottage:

Hamlet, in his new collar and leash, exploring the great outdoors for the first time

My sister showed me how to do some neat tricks with my camera, so we played around a bit with them. For example, I can set the camera to only pick up a specific colour, in this case, blue:

Then I tried it again (without my sister's help) to only pick up red. It didn't work so well. Later, she told me I can adjust the sensitivity, but that wasn't in time for this picture of Dee and Pete (who were holding something red. The rest of the picture was supposed to be black and white)

Dee and Pete decided they wanted to try kayaking. This is an awesome picture of Dee, with the ski hill in the background:

... okay, I know I selected more photos in Picassa, but only these ones showed up... hang on, I'll try this again.

IT'S FINISHED!!!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
[/choir of angels]

It's done! It's done! I finished the never-ending baby blanket (which apparently had an end after all)

Hooray! Yippee!

Now I'm wondering if I should do any quick and easy finishing touches. Any suggestions?

I finished it at the cottage, so I seized the opportunity to do some "in the wild" shots :)

(Yes, it will be washed before given to the baby)

I was so pleased with myself for doing the blanket, I started happily knitting away at my gauntlets. I adore this yarn! I forget what it's called, but my Friends Knitting Together could help you out with that!

I knit quite a bit more in the car on the way home, but here's what I had before leaving the cottage on Monday

Hmmm... doesn't quite fit. (The black cat in the photo is my mom's cat, Moe)

Hope everyone had a good long weekend!
